A Very Warm Welcome to the Website of the Embassy of Lebanon to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland!
It is a great honour for me to take up service as Ambassador of Lebanon to the Court of Saint James’.
Together with a very able team at the Embassy, we will work to strengthen relations between our two countries in many fields and explore new possible areas of common interest. I see plenty of opportunities.
It is said that the relationship between our two peoples date back to millennia, to when Phoenician sailors of the ancient world crossed the Pillars of Hercules, the Strait of Gibraltar, in search of tin, and reached the shores of Cornwall and Devonshire. As a matter of fact, the name “Britain” comes from the Phoenician word “Baratanac”, meaning “land of tin”.
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is host to a significant Lebanese community, who is an active contributor to British life. This provides a solid base for our relations. We are proud of our British-Lebanese community and we will work on bringing forward their valuable contribution.
Moving forward, my main focus will be on enhancing our trade and economic relations to the benefit of both our countries.
I believe export opportunities for Lebanese businesses to the United Kingdom are significant, and vice versa. I also believe there are major synergies, especially in the services’ sector, from which we should take stock.
It is also essential to build a wide range of relations to enhance ties between our countries, at the highest level of government, among the business community, and ordinary people. We base our contacts on mutual respect, understanding and open dialogue. Lebanon is a beautiful and welcoming country, and I invite our British friends to discover it.
I invite you to visit our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/london.mfa.gov.lb/) and stay updated on news related to Lebanon and the United Kingdom. I would also encourage you to follow us on Instagram and on X @londonmfagovlb
look forward to engaging with you in developing and strengthening the important ties between Lebanon and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland! We have a glorious joint history and, together, we should lay the foundations of a bright future ahead.
